Week 11: On the Turn for Home...

Week 11 is another week where we couldn't get out to the job site.  Trying to handle life's logistical challenges is making visiting our future home difficult, but we're in the home stretch so hopefully things will start to sort themselves out.  Inside we had the stone fireplace completed, the finish electrical complete and the finish plumbing work started.  As for the outside, the deck construction began (finally!).  Since it was also the opening of deer hunting season, some natural staffing delays were to be expected, but it was figured into our project plan anyway.

We're trying to figure out how we're moving our belongings to the new home as it's not a "local move", however the furniture only quotes we've received so far seem pretty pricey.  If it wasn't for a few large items on the second floor I would attempt it myself entirely, but unfortunately I'm not sure of another way to get those items moved.

We're also into the final re-checks for our finances with NVR, and have begun to set up the transfer of ownership in utilities into our name.  December 14th is coming up fast!

  1. In my head, you have two options: 1. Lots of beer and pizza for friends to move you. 2. Buy new stuff so they have to deliver it.... Lol!

    2. LOL...These are absolutely the best 2 options! We close on the 14th as well. Going to be a busy next couple of weeks! Your house looks great, good luck with the move.

Edit: Mixed up my dates/spelling on the 1st post.

  2. I like Catherine's moving options! lol

We will just move ourselves again. We rented a stair climber dolly thing to assist with the big stuff when we moved into the apartment.

  3. We moved ourselves back in July and it was no easy task, but doable. However, since we already did one move this year, we are treating ourselves to a "u pack it, we'll move it" arrangement with a local company that gave us a really good deal. If you end up doing it yourself via U-haul, I highly recommend that you also book their load/unload help service. It's relatively inexpensive and it's GREAT to have the 2-3 experienced movers to help with the really big/heavy/awkward stuff.

  6. Glad you figured out a way to move your things. I am advocate of hiring movers when you have furniture and boxes from every room of the house. Enjoy your move, Brian!!! Can't wait to see the after pictures.
